Electricians In Puyallup, WA

Licensed Residential Electricians Working Out Of Our South Hill Office

Our Puyallup office is at 16709 81 Ave E, off South Hill. Most of the work we do around here happens within about twenty minutes of that address. Panel upgrades in Sunrise. EV chargers in the newer builds off Shaw Road. Rewires in the old houses on the north side of downtown, where the wiring has not been touched since somebody first ran power to the block.

If you have been searching for electricians near me and getting a list of companies based up in Seattle or over in Renton, we are the ones already in Pierce County.

Panels, EV chargers, ceiling fans, lighting, outlets, rewires, remodels, new construction, and the eleven at night call when something starts to smell like hot plastic. Every job gets a permit where one is required, and an inspection before we call it done.

Residential Electrical Services In Puyallup, WA

Licensed, permitted, and inspected. Run out of 16709 81 Ave E, so most Puyallup calls are a short drive rather than a trip down I-5.

Electrical Panel Installation And Upgrades

A 100 amp panel handled a 1978 Puyallup house without complaint. Add a heat pump, an induction range, and a car that charges overnight and it will not pass a load calculation. We run that calculation on your actual panel before quoting, coordinate the meter work with Puget Sound Energy, and upgrade to 200 amp service with capacity left for whatever comes next. If yours is a Federal Pacific or a Zinsco, we will walk you through why replacement is usually the honest answer rather than a breaker swap.

EV Charger Installation

Level 2 chargers, Tesla Wall Connectors, and 240V outlets for anything on a J1772 or NACS connector. Somebody opens your panel before we quote, because that single step decides whether this is a three hour install or a service upgrade first. Nobody can tell you that honestly over the phone. Plenty of South Hill garages have the panel ten feet from where the charger goes, which is the cheap version. A detached garage across the yard means conduit, trenching, and heavier wire to hold the voltage up over the run.

Whole-House Rewiring

Knob and tube in the older blocks near downtown, cloth wrapped conductors in the crawlspace, and aluminum branch circuits from the late 1960s. Insurers in Washington have gotten stricter about all three, and some will not renew a policy until the wiring is gone. We rewire circuit by circuit and work in zones, so you keep living in the house while it happens instead of moving out for two weeks. If you have a non-renewal letter, bring it. We have written the scope of work that satisfies underwriters before.

Wiring Updates And Partial Rewiring

Not every house needs the whole thing torn out. If the trouble is one wing, one floor, or the original section of a house that got an addition in 1998, we rewire that part and leave sound copper alone. Kitchens are the usual candidate around here, because a 1970s kitchen was wired for a fridge and a toaster and now has a microwave, a dishwasher, a disposal, and an air fryer sharing two circuits. Partial rewiring is real permitted work. It is just cheaper, and sometimes it is the right call.

Ceiling Fan Installation

Hanging a fan is not the same job as hanging a light. The box has to carry the weight plus the wobble, and most boxes we open were never rated for it. Somebody hung a fan off a plastic light box, it held for six years, and now it is moving a quarter inch every time it runs. We install fan rated boxes, run the wiring so the fan and the light switch separately, and mount on sloped and vaulted ceilings. Summers here got hot enough the last few years that this stopped being an optional upgrade.

Custom Lighting Installation

Recessed cans, under cabinet strips, outdoor and landscape lighting, full fixture replacement. Layout is the part people skip and the part that decides whether you like the room afterward. Put the cans in a straight line down the middle of a kitchen and you will stand in your own shadow at the counter every night. We plan it with you on paper before anyone opens a ceiling.

Electrical Outlet Replacement

Dead outlets, scorch marks around a plug, a receptacle that no longer holds a cord, or two prong outlets with nowhere to land a ground. We replace what has failed and add outlets where you actually need them, with GFCI protection in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, crawlspaces, and outdoors. Older Puyallup houses tend to have one outlet per wall and a power strip doing permanent work behind the couch. That is fixable, and it is a smaller job than people assume.

Learn more about outlet replacement.

Outlet Grounding

Two prong outlets with no ground path are normal in Puyallup houses built before the mid 1960s. Swapping in a three prong receptacle without running a ground does not fix anything. It hides the problem behind a plug that now fits, and it makes your surge protector useless while looking like it works. We run a real ground where the route exists, install GFCI protection where it does not, and label the outlet the way code requires so the next person is not misled.

Learn more about outlet grounding.

Dedicated Circuits

Hot tubs, saunas, well pumps, workshop equipment, window AC, EV outlets, anything with a motor in it. All of it runs better and safer on its own circuit. Well pumps come up more here than they do closer to the water, because plenty of properties out toward Graham and the edges of South Hill are still on a well. We size the conductor for the load and for the length of the run, so you are not losing voltage halfway out to the shop.

Learn more about dedicated circuits.

Circuit Breakers And Panel Repairs

Breakers trip for a reason, and the reason changes what you do about it. A space heater and a microwave on one circuit is an overload. Annoying, not urgent. A breaker that trips instantly every time you reset it is a short, and you should stop resetting it and call us. The case that actually worries us is the opposite one, a breaker that never trips at all, which is the known failure mode of the Federal Pacific panels installed all over this area in the 1970s. We replace worn and undersized breakers and add AFCI or GFCI protection where code now requires it.

Learn more about panel and breaker work.

Light Switches, Dimmers, And Electrical Installations

A switch that buzzes, feels warm, or has to be held in position has a loose connection or the wrong load behind it. We replace failing switches, wire three way and four way circuits so a hallway or a stairwell works from both ends, and match dimmers to your LED fixtures. Most of the flickering people blame on cheap bulbs is actually a dimmer built for incandescent loads trying to run LEDs.

Learn more about electrical installations.

Smoke Detectors And CO Alarms

Washington requires interconnected smoke alarms in bedrooms and hallways, and carbon monoxide alarms outside sleeping areas. Battery units stuck to a ceiling with double sided tape usually do not satisfy that, and it comes up when you sell. We hardwire and interconnect them so when one sounds, all of them do. In a two story house that difference is the whole point of the requirement.

Learn more about alarm installation.

Remodeling And Renovation Electrical

Kitchens and baths need far more circuits than they did when the house was built. Basement conversions and ADU builds usually need their own subpanel. We work around finished surfaces, fish wire instead of opening walls wherever the route allows, and sequence around your other trades so nobody is standing in the driveway waiting. If you are opening walls anyway, that is the cheapest moment you will ever get to rewire.

Learn more about remodeling electrical.

New Construction Electrical

Rough in through trim out on custom homes, ADUs, and detached garages. We read the plans, coordinate with your GC and the other trades, and set boxes where the drywall crew does not have to guess. South Hill and the Sunrise area still have lots going up, and we work as the residential electrical contractor on that kind of build regularly. Plan the panel for the house in ten years rather than the house on move in day, because leaving four spare slots is nearly free now and expensive later.

Emergency Electrical Services

Burning smell, a sparking outlet, a breaker that will not reset, half the house dark. Call us. We answer around the clock, including weekends and holidays, and our trucks carry enough stock that most emergency calls finish on the first visit instead of turning into a return trip for a part. Windstorms take branches into service drops here every winter, and that is a call we take a lot of in November.

What We Find Inside Puyallup Houses

Puyallup did not get built all at once, and that is why no two of these calls look alike.

01

The oldest part of town, the blocks north and east of Pioneer Park, goes back to the 1890s and early 1900s. Knob and tube still turns up in those houses. Cloth insulation that crumbles when you touch it, no ground anywhere, and usually somebody’s blown-in insulation packed around conductors that were designed to shed heat into open air.

02

Then there is the 1960s through 1980s stretch, which covers a lot of the flats and the older South Hill lots. That window brought aluminum branch circuit wiring, 100 amp services that were generous at the time, and Federal Pacific Stab-Lok and Zinsco panels. Both of those brands have a long documented record of breakers that do not trip when a circuit overloads. If yours is one of them, the breaker on the wall is decoration.

03

The newest wave is South Hill and Sunrise from the mid 1990s onward. Those houses are usually fine on wiring. What they run out of is capacity. A 200 amp panel filled to the last slot the day it was built has nowhere to put a heat pump, an induction range, and a Level 2 charger.

We find all three versions regularly, and we will tell you what is in your house whether or not you hire us to fix it.

Permits And Inspections In Puyallup

This is worth two minutes of your time, because Pierce County is genuinely confusing and a lot of contractor pages get it wrong.

Some Washington cities run their own electrical permit and inspection programs. Federal Way does. Bellevue, Seattle, Everett, Des Moines, Milton, Burien, Normandy Park, and SeaTac all do. Puyallup does not. That means your electrical permit and inspection normally go through the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.

There is one exception that catches people out. Tacoma Power issues permits and performs its own inspections for every property it serves, and its territory reaches into unincorporated Pierce County as far south as Roy. So the answer depends on your serving utility, not just your mailing address. Two houses a mile apart can go to different authorities. We check which one applies to your address before pulling anything, which is the sort of detail that turns into a delayed inspection and a refund request when somebody guesses.

Either way, we pull the permit, we schedule the inspection, and we stay with it until it passes. That is when we call the job finished.

Skipping the permit is not a shortcut. Unpermitted electrical work gives an insurance carrier a clean reason to deny a fire claim, and it surfaces during a sale while everyone argues over who pays to correct it. If a contractor offers to save you the permit fee, that tells you what you need to know about the contractor.

Why Puyallup Homeowners Call Us

Looking for a licensed electrician in Puyallup? We work out of 16709 81 Ave E, so the truck in your driveway did not drive down from King County to get there. The electricians doing the work are on our own crew rather than subcontractors we found last week.

Reliability is the thing homeowners tell us other contractors get wrong, so we treat the arrival window as a commitment rather than a rough idea. If a job ahead of yours runs long, you hear it from us before you have to wonder where we are. Crews clean up before they leave, and somebody walks you through what was done before the truck is packed.

You also get the same person from the first phone call to the final inspection. Alex writes the estimate, and Alex is who you call if something is not right. Nothing gets handed to a project manager you have never spoken to.

If the work is not right, we come back and correct it at our cost.

How A Job Runs With Us

1

We Come And Look

Somebody walks the property before quoting. The panel, the crawlspace, the length of the run. Phone estimates are guesses, and guesses go up.

2

You Get A Written Number

Free and itemized. No trip charge and no dispatch fee, and the figure does not move unless you change the job.

3

We Pull The Permit

Panel work, new circuits, service upgrades, and rewires all require one in Washington. We confirm whether your address goes to L&I or Tacoma Power before we file.

4

An Inspector Signs It Off

We book the inspection and stay with it until it passes. That is when the job is finished, not before.

What Electrical Work Costs Around Puyallup

There is no price list on this page, and that is deliberate. Anyone quoting a panel upgrade or a rewire over the phone is guessing, and the guess goes up once they see the house. What we can tell you is what moves the number.

Distance From The Panel

A panel in the garage ten feet from where the work is going is the easy version. A run out to a detached shop means conduit, trench, and heavier wire.

Whether The Walls Are Open

Fishing through finished drywall and insulation takes longer than surface conduit in an unfinished garage or an open remodel.

Spare Capacity In Your Service

An empty double slot costs nothing. A full 100 amp panel means a subpanel or a service upgrade first.

What Is Actually In The Walls

Knob and tube that six different people have spliced into takes longer than a clean 1970s Romex layout.

Whether The Utility Has To Get Involved

Service upgrades need Puget Sound Energy to disconnect and reconnect, and that scheduling is part of the job.

Alex writes every estimate himself after walking the property. It is free, itemized, in writing, and the number you get is the number you pay.

Who Is Doing The Work

Alexandru Goncear, Owner And CEO

Electrical work goes better when you know who is running it. ElectON Enterprise is led by Alexandru Goncear, a Washington licensed electrician who has spent years on residential systems across Pierce, King, and Snohomish County.

Alex writes the estimates himself. He walks the property before quoting, so the figure reflects what is actually in the wall rather than a description over the phone, and he stays your point of contact through permitting, the work, and the final inspection.

Several reviews on our Google profile mention him phoning ahead to say when the inspector was due. Small thing. It is also the thing homeowners tell us the last contractor never bothered with.

You can verify our license, bond, and insurance with Washington L&I.

Common Questions About Electricians In Puyallup, WA

Who Are The Best Electricians Near Me In Puyallup, WA?

We are biased, so check the reviews instead of taking our word for it. ElectON Enterprise holds a 5.0 rating on Google, is licensed and insured in Washington under #ELECTEL765MN, and works out of an office at 16709 81 Ave E in Puyallup rather than dispatching down from Seattle when a job comes in. That last part matters more than people expect. A local crew reaches you faster on an emergency and already knows what tends to be behind the walls in this housing stock. One call at (253) 508-7529 covers panels, outlets, lighting, rewiring, ceiling fans, and EV charging.

How Fast Can You Get To My House For An Emergency?

We answer at (253) 508-7529 twenty four hours a day, weekends and holidays included. Because our Puyallup office is on South Hill, response inside Puyallup is usually quick, with Sumner, Edgewood, Graham, and Frederickson close behind. Our trucks are stocked, so most emergency calls get resolved on the first visit rather than turning into a return trip for parts.

Do I Need A Permit For Electrical Work In Puyallup?

Usually yes. New circuits, panel changes, service upgrades, EV charger installs, and rewiring all require a permit and an inspection in Washington. Puyallup is not one of the cities that runs its own electrical inspection program, so the permit normally goes through state L&I. The exception is Tacoma Power, which handles permits and inspections for the properties it serves, and its territory reaches into unincorporated Pierce County. We confirm which authority applies to your address, pull the permit, and book the inspection.

How Much Does An Electrical Panel Upgrade Cost In Puyallup?

It depends on your existing service size, whether the meter base and mast also need replacing, how the panel is mounted, and whether Puget Sound Energy has to disconnect and reconnect. Anyone giving you a firm number over the phone without seeing it is guessing, and the guess climbs once they arrive. We come out, run a real load calculation, and give you a written figure. The estimate is free and the price is locked before we start.

What Is The Difference Between An Electrician And An Electrical Contractor?

An electrician does the hands on work. A residential electrical contractor is the licensed business that carries the bond and the insurance, pulls the permits, and takes responsibility for the project. ElectON Enterprise is both. We are a licensed Washington electrical contractor, and the electricians on your house are ours rather than subcontractors you never met and did not hire.

I Have A Federal Pacific Or Zinsco Panel. How Worried Should I Be?

Worried enough to have it looked at, not worried enough to lose sleep tonight. Both brands have a long documented record of breakers that fail to trip during an overload. Instead of cutting power, current keeps flowing and the wire heats up inside the wall where you cannot see it. These panels went into houses all over the Puyallup area during the 1970s. If you find one of those logos on your panel door, have a licensed electrician evaluate it. Replacement is usually the answer.

My Breaker Keeps Tripping. Is That Dangerous?

Depends what is causing it. An overload happens when too many high draw appliances share a circuit. Unplug the space heater, flip it back, and if it holds you had an overload. A short circuit is different. That is a hot conductor touching a neutral or a ground, and it trips instantly every time you reset it. If a breaker will not stay on, stop resetting it and call. A breaker that refuses to hold is doing its job. The one to worry about is the breaker that never trips at all.

Can My House Handle An EV Charger?

Maybe. It comes down to your panel’s capacity and your existing load. A Level 2 charger typically wants a 40 to 60 amp circuit, and if you are on a 100 amp service already running a heat pump and an electric range, there may not be room. That is common in the older South Hill and downtown houses and less common in the newer builds off Sunrise. We run a load calculation before quoting rather than after. If you need a service upgrade first, you hear it at the estimate. Where a full upgrade is not worth it, a load management device or a lower amperage charger often solves the same problem for far less.

How Much Does EV Charger Installation Cost In Puyallup, WA?

The number turns on the distance from your panel to where the charger goes, whether your panel has spare capacity, and whether you are hardwiring or putting in a 240V outlet. A short run from a garage panel is the low end. A run out to a detached garage, or a service upgrade first, costs more. We quote it in writing after opening the panel, at no charge.

Do You Install Ceiling Fans, Or Only Larger Jobs?

We install ceiling fans, and it is one of the more common calls we take here. The job is more involved than it looks, because most existing boxes were never rated to carry a fan’s weight plus the vibration. We install a fan rated box, wire the fan and the light on separate switches if that is what you want, and handle sloped and vaulted ceilings. Small jobs get the same permit and code standards as large ones.

Do You Do New Construction?

Yes. We work as the electrical contractor on custom homes, ADUs, and detached garages from rough in through trim out, and there is steady building around South Hill and Sunrise. We read the plans, coordinate with your GC, and set boxes where the drywall crew does not have to guess. Talk to us early enough and we will size the panel for the house you will have in ten years rather than the one on move in day.

Do You Rewire Older Homes?

Yes, and it is a large share of the work here. Knob and tube, cloth wrapped wiring, and aluminum branch circuits from the late 1960s all turn up in Puyallup. Insurers are increasingly unwilling to write policies on any of the three. We rewire circuit by circuit so the house stays livable, permit and inspect all of it, and clean up as we go. Sometimes the answer is a partial rewire rather than the whole house, and we will tell you when that is the case.

Are You Licensed And Insured?

Yes. ElectON Enterprise is a licensed Washington electrical contractor, license #ELECTEL765MN, and we carry general liability and workers’ compensation coverage. Ask any contractor for both. If they hesitate on the workers’ comp question, an injury on your property can become your problem.

Do You Charge For Estimates?

No. Estimates are free and written. No trip charge, no dispatch fee, and no revised number once the truck shows up. What we quote is what you pay unless you change the scope of the job.

What Areas Do You Serve Besides Puyallup?

Our Puyallup office is at 16709 81 Ave E, and we also run out of Federal Way and Kent. We cover Puyallup, Sumner, Bonney Lake, Orting, Graham, Spanaway, Frederickson, Edgewood, Milton, Tacoma, Auburn, Federal Way, Kent, Des Moines, Seattle, Bellevue, and Everett, plus the surrounding Pierce, King, and Snohomish County communities.

Ready To Schedule Electrical Service In Puyallup?

Tell us what is going on and we will come look. You get an itemized number in writing, a schedule, and a straight answer about what the job actually needs. No trip charge, no dispatch fee, and the price we quote is the price you pay.
