Open residential electrical panel with breakers and wiring exposed for repair

Electrical Panel Repair And Replacement In Everett, WA

Call us if a breaker will not reset, the panel cover buzzes or feels warm, there is rust inside the box, or the label says Federal Pacific or Zinsco. Some panels can be repaired. When a replacement makes more sense, we run a load calculation first so the new panel fits how your household actually uses power. For service upgrades we file with Snohomish County PUD, book the inspection and plan the cutover so your power is off for as short a time as we can manage. Searching electrical panel repair near me will turn up plenty of phone quotes. Ask each company whether anyone will open your panel before they name a price.

Home Rewiring In Everett, WA

Plenty of early 1900s houses in North Everett were wired for a bulb or two per room. Rewiring them rarely means tearing out the plaster. We plan the circuits room by room, pull new cable from the attic and crawlspace through the cavities already in the walls, and open plaster only where the framing leaves no other route. Most families stay home while we work, and the job is inspected at rough-in and again at the end.

Electrician installing a wall-mounted EV charger outside a home

EV Charger Installation In Everett, WA

We install Level 2 chargers for Tesla, Ford, Rivian, Hyundai, Kia and any car with a J1772 or NACS plug. Before we talk about where the charger goes, we look at your panel. A full 200 amp panel or an older 100 amp service may not carry a 48 amp charger as it stands, and a smaller circuit or a load management device sometimes solves that without a service upgrade. You will know which before you pay for anything.

New Construction Wiring In Everett, WA

Rough-in through trim-out for custom homes, ADUs, detached garages and shops across Snohomish County. We work from your plans, coordinate with the general contractor and the other trades, and handle plan review and the PUD service application from the start. We also keep to the rough-in date, since insulation and drywall cannot start until we are done.

Melted, scorched electrical outlet showing heat damage

Emergency Electrician In Everett, WA

Call if you smell burning, an outlet has sparked or scorched, a breaker trips again the moment you reset it, or half the house has lost power while the neighbors still have theirs. We answer the phone 24 hours a day. Our nearest office is in Kent, so we will give you a realistic arrival time and tell you what to switch off while you wait. If you see smoke or flames, leave the house and call 911 first.

Outlet and switch boxes wired and ready for new devices

Outlets And Receptacles

Dead outlets, loose ones that will not grip a plug, warm cover plates and brown marks around the slots all mean something has failed. We replace them, add outlets where you have been relying on extension cords, and add GFCI protection wherever water is nearby: kitchens, bathrooms, the laundry, the garage, the crawlspace and outdoors. Tamper-resistant receptacles go wherever the code calls for them.

Electrician stripping wires at a wall box before installing a grounded outlet

Outlet Grounding

Houses in Everett built before the mid 1960s usually started with two-prong outlets. Putting a three-prong receptacle on a circuit without a ground wire only makes the plug fit, and it can mislead a home inspector or the next buyer. We run a real equipment ground where we can get one in. Where that is not practical, we add GFCI protection and label the outlet the way the code requires.

New electrical cables routed through drilled wall studs

Switches, Dimmers And Electrical Installations

A switch that crackles, runs warm or only works when you press it a certain way usually has a loose connection or too much load on it. We replace worn switches, set up switching from both ends of a staircase or long hallway, and pair dimmers with dimmable LED fixtures so the flicker and hum go away. We also install hardwired, interconnected smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, which permitted remodels and additions usually require.

Kitchen with pendant lights hanging over a dark wood island

Lighting Installation

Recessed lights, under-cabinet strips, pendants over an island, outdoor and landscape lighting, and simple fixture swaps. Everett winters are long and gray, so the layout is worth getting right. We plan where the light lands before cutting any holes, so it falls on the counter where you work instead of behind you. Anything outdoors gets fixtures rated for wet locations.

White ceiling fan mounted on a bright white ceiling

Ceiling Fan Installation

A ceiling fan is heavier than most light fixtures, and it vibrates while it runs. The box it hangs from needs a fan rating, and in older Everett homes it rarely has one. We install fan-rated boxes and braces, wire separate switches for the light and the fan if you want them, and use the right downrod or angle kit on sloped and vaulted ceilings.

Two electricians tracing tangled wiring inside an older breaker panel

Circuit Breakers And Wiring Updates

A breaker trips for a reason. It might be a space heater and a toaster oven sharing one kitchen circuit, or it might be a damaged wire inside a wall. We find out which before replacing anything, then fit a breaker sized for the wire and add AFCI or GFCI protection if today’s code requires it on that circuit. A breaker you keep resetting without finding the cause is a warning, and ignoring it is how small problems turn into fires.

Bundle of new color-coded electrical cables for dedicated circuits

Dedicated Circuits

Hot tubs, heat pumps, ductless mini-splits, well pumps, a chest freezer in the garage and shop tools all run better on a circuit of their own. We size the wire for both the load and the distance, so a long run out to a detached shop or a spa past the patio still delivers full voltage.

Electrician working overhead in an unfinished ceiling during a home remodel

Remodeling And Renovation Electrical

Kitchen and bathroom remodels come with a long list of circuit requirements under current code, and finished basements and ADUs often need their own subpanel. We work around finished floors and cabinets, fish wire through walls instead of opening them wherever possible, and schedule around your other trades.

Permits In Everett

Everett Runs Its Own Electrical Inspections. The Areas Around It Do Not.

Across most of Washington, electrical permits come from the Department of Labor and Industries. Everett runs its own program, and because the city boundary zigzags, two houses with Everett mailing addresses can answer to different inspectors.

Inside city limits, City of Everett Permit Services on Cedar Street issues the permit, and inspections are booked through the city’s online portal. Outside those limits, in Mariner, Eastmont, Silver Firs and the other unincorporated neighborhoods that share Everett ZIP codes, the permit and inspection come from L&I, which has its own Everett office on 100th Street SE. What decides it is where the parcel sits, not the ZIP code on your mail.

Here is what that means for you as the homeowner:

  • Everett takes electrical permit applications online. Some jobs need drawings and a plan review before the permit is issued, so it pays to start early on a service change, an addition or an ADU.
  • Snohomish County PUD supplies power to all of Everett. When a panel or meter base is replaced, the PUD generally wants the electrical inspection signed off before it reconnects the meter. If nobody lined that inspection up ahead of time, you wait without power longer than you need to.
  • A service upgrade, for example from 100 to 200 amps, starts with an application to the PUD. They use the load and service details on that form to size the transformer and set fees, so the load calculation needs to be right before anything is ordered.
  • If you own a rental in Everett, the city’s own permit paperwork is clear that owners cannot do electrical work on property that is rented, for sale or for lease unless they hold the right license. Landlords need a licensed contractor on the permit.
  • In Washington, a permit is pulled either by a licensed electrical contractor or by a homeowner working on the house they live in. If someone quotes you a panel swap with no permit, ask whose license would go on the application.

We work out which office covers your address, file the application, pay the fees and book the inspection. You will not need a portal login, and you will not be chasing an inspector.

If you would like to check this yourself, the City of Everett explains how its electrical permits work, Permit Services answers at 425-257-8810, Snohomish County PUD lists its service requirements online, and you can look up any contractor’s license through L&I before you hire them. That includes us.

House By House

What We Find Behind The Walls Of Everett Homes

Everett was built in stages, from the mill-town houses north of downtown to the subdivisions that later filled in the south end. Each stage left its own wiring problems, and the year a house was built usually tells us what to look for first.

Before 1940

Before 1940: Rucker Hill, Northwest Everett, Riverside, Bayside, Delta And Lowell

Rucker Hill is a National Register historic district full of Craftsman, Foursquare and Colonial Revival houses from the early 1900s, and many of the surrounding streets are just as old. In these houses we regularly find knob and tube wiring, cloth-wrapped conductors, two-prong outlets with no ground anywhere on the circuit, and splices from several decades crammed into one box. Some insurers now refuse to renew a policy until the knob and tube is gone.

Many of these homes still run on a 60 or 100 amp service. That was plenty when the house was built, but it will not carry a heat pump, an induction range and a car charger on the same evening.

1950s To 1970s

1950s To 1970s: Much Of Central And South Everett

Many of the ramblers and split-levels in Pinehurst, Evergreen, Westmont and Holly date from these decades. So do two panel brands we always check for, Federal Pacific Stab-Lok and Zinsco, both with a long record of breakers that can fail to trip on an overload. If you have one, we will tell you plainly how urgent it is and whether to replace it now or as part of a bigger project.

Homes built between about 1965 and 1973 may also have aluminum branch wiring. Aluminum swells and shrinks with heat more than copper does, so over the years the screws at outlets and switches work loose, and a loose connection heats up. A full rewire is often unnecessary, but every connection in the house has to be made safe with listed connectors, including the ones that have not scorched yet.

1980s Onward

1980s Onward: Silver Lake, Twin Creeks, Cascade View And The Newer South End

The wiring in these homes is usually in decent shape. Capacity is what runs short. A 1990s house can have a panel with no open slots and nothing left for a 48 amp EV charger or a hot tub, so most of our calls in these neighborhoods are about adding load. A load calculation shows whether the existing service can handle it, whether a load management device will do the job, or whether it is time to ask the PUD about an upgrade.

We will tell you what we find even if the answer is that nothing needs doing. If your panel is fine, we say so.

Before You Hire Anyone

What To Check Before You Hire An Electrician In Everett, WA

Search for electricians near me and you will get licensed contractors, individual electricians and handymen mixed together, and on a results page they all look about the same. Washington treats them very differently. An electrician holds a personal certificate to do the work. An electrical contractor is a licensed company backed by a bond and insurance, and only the company can legally sell you the job and pull a permit under its own name.

That difference shows up when something goes wrong. If uninsured work damages your house or fails inspection, you may have very little to fall back on. When a licensed contractor is responsible, a bond and an insurance policy stand behind the job, and L&I has a license it can take action against.

Two questions sort out most of the field. First, what is your contractor license number, so I can look it up? Ours is ELECTEL765MN. Second, who is pulling the permit? If they say a panel swap or a new circuit can skip the permit, move on to the next name on your list.

ElectON Enterprise is a licensed electrical contractor working across Snohomish, King and Pierce County. The electricians who show up at your door are our own crew rather than subcontractors brought in for the week.

Four Steps, In Order

What Happens After You Call

We Come Look Before We Quote

Someone walks the house before you get a number, checking the panel, the attic, the crawlspace and the run out to the garage. Phone quotes tend to grow once the walls are open, which is why we do not give them.

You Get The Price In Writing

The estimate is free and itemized, and we do not charge a trip or dispatch fee. The total changes only if you change the scope.

We File With The Right Office

That means City of Everett Permit Services inside city limits, L&I in unincorporated Snohomish County, and Snohomish County PUD whenever the service or meter is involved. We handle the applications and the fees.

The Inspector Signs Off

We book the inspection, meet the inspector on site and take care of any corrections until the permit is approved. That approval is when we consider the job finished.

If anything we installed turns out wrong, we come back and make it right at no charge.

Who You Will Be Dealing With

The Person Behind Your Everett Estimate

Alexandru Goncear owns ElectON Enterprise. He is a licensed electrician in Washington with years of residential work across Snohomish, King and Pierce County.

Alex prices every job himself, and only after seeing the property, so the estimate reflects what is actually inside your walls. From the first walk-through until the inspector signs off, he is the person you call, and you will not be handed to a project manager you have never met.

Our Google reviews tend to mention the small things. One homeowner was out the whole time we added ceiling light and fan fixtures, and came home to finished work and a clean room. Another had just bought a house and wrote that Alex explained what a full panel replacement would involve before anything was sold. We run Everett jobs the same way.

Questions We Get From Everett Homeowners

Who Are The Best Electricians In Everett, WA?

We are not neutral on that one, so let the reviews make the case. Our Google rating is 5.0, our Washington contractor license is ELECTEL765MN, and we carry a bond and insurance. What we can promise is how the job runs: someone looks before quoting, the permit goes through the right office, and the work is not finished until it passes inspection. One call to (253) 508-7529 covers panels, rewiring, outlets, lighting, EV chargers and emergencies.

What Should I Look For In Residential Electricians Near Me?

Before you compare prices, check the contractor license number (L&I can verify it in about a minute), ask whether they will look at the job in person before quoting, and find out who is pulling the permit. A company that mostly works on houses will also know how to work in a home people are living in, which means protecting floors, keeping the power on where possible and cleaning up at the end of each day.

Do I Need A Permit For Electrical Work In Everett?

For panel replacements, service upgrades, new circuits, rewiring and most EV charger installs, yes. Inside city limits the permit comes from City of Everett Permit Services. Outside them, including Mariner, Eastmont and Silver Firs, it comes from L&I. Unpermitted work can cause trouble during an insurance claim or a home sale. We pull the permit as part of the job.

My House Has An Everett Address. Does That Mean It Is In The City?

Not necessarily. Several unincorporated neighborhoods use Everett mailing addresses and ZIP codes, so the address alone does not tell you which office handles the permit. We check the parcel before we quote and file with whichever office actually has jurisdiction.

Do You Coordinate With Snohomish County PUD?

Yes. Any job that touches the service or the meter, like a panel replacement or an upgrade to 200 amps, involves the PUD. We submit the service application with the load details they ask for, and we line up the inspection ahead of time so the meter can be reconnected without extra days of waiting.

How Fast Can You Get To Everett For An Emergency?

Someone picks up the phone at any hour. Because our closest office is in Kent, we will tell you a realistic arrival time when you call. If something smells like it is burning or you see sparks, and you can reach the panel safely, turn off that breaker. If there is smoke or fire, get out of the house and call 911 first.

How Much Does A Panel Upgrade Cost In Everett?

The biggest factors are the size of your current service, the condition of the meter base, whether the panel needs to move, and what the PUD asks for at the connection. A repair usually costs a fraction of a replacement. We walk the service and run a load calculation before quoting, and the written price holds unless the scope changes. Estimates are free, and there is no trip charge.

I Have Knob And Tube Wiring. Do I Have To Replace All Of It?

Usually not in one go, but it belongs on your list. Knob and tube has no ground, its insulation turns brittle with age, and it was never meant to be buried under modern attic insulation. Many insurers now want it gone. We can rewire in stages, starting with the circuits that carry the most load. If your insurer sent you a letter, bring it, and we will match the work to what they asked for.

Is A Federal Pacific Or Zinsco Panel Dangerous?

It is worth having looked at soon, but there is no need to panic. Both brands are known for breakers that can stay on during an overload, so the protection you think you have might not be there. We see them in Everett houses built from the 1950s into the 1970s. After we look at yours, you will know whether it is a this-month job or something to budget for.

Can My House Handle An EV Charger?

Often it can, and sometimes it needs a load management device or a service upgrade first. The load calculation comes first, and you hear the result before you spend a dollar. If you are comparing electricians near me for a charger install, ask each of them whether they ran that calculation before giving you a price.

Do You Work On Rentals, Condos And ADUs?

Yes. We work on houses, condos, townhomes, ADUs, rentals, detached garages and shops. If you own a rental in Everett, keep in mind that owners cannot do their own electrical work on property that is rented or for sale, so the job needs a licensed contractor. For condos, we work with your HOA on anything that touches common areas.

Are You Licensed And Insured?

Yes. We are bonded and insured, and our Washington electrical contractor license number is ELECTEL765MN. The L&I online lookup will confirm it is active.

Do You Charge For Estimates?

No. You get a free, itemized estimate in writing, and we do not charge for the trip or the visit.

What Areas Do You Serve Besides Everett?

All of Snohomish, King and Pierce County. That includes Mukilteo, Mill Creek, Lynnwood, Edmonds, Bothell, Marysville, Lake Stevens, Seattle, Bellevue, Kent, Federal Way, Tacoma and Puyallup.
